Accurate Compliance

 Overview

In my world as a safety compliance officer getting accurate information is critical. What is even more critical is getting the right compliance information from the right governing body. With all the different governmental agencies having jurisdiction in different areas, finding the right one can be challenging. Ensuring the information is current and correct can be an even bigger challenge.

Objectives

My objectives in this activity is to ensure accurate compliance when conversing with the AI chat. When asking a technical question that needs an accurate answer, I can rely on notebookLM to give me accurate information. Having vetted the websites I entered into the app, I can be confident in the information I get. 

Outcomes

Using this tool has been great for me in my role. Not only can I chat with it to get accurate information. I can use it as a training tool to train employees on compliance. For example, if i wanted to give a presentation on electrical safety I would crate a workbook that had all the applicable osha standards, the NFPA 70E standard and trusted compliance websites to accumulate the best information to share with those I am training.

Conclusion

This tool can be considered a game changer for us in the compliance world. The struggle with relying on AI is that you are reliant on all information it draws from, some may be correct and some may be inaccurate. Being able to only use sources that I trust and are reputable makes my job a whole lot easier.

 When putting PLN in the perspective of my own personal development I wonder why haven't I established a PLN before. Currently I follow many in my field on the platform "LinkedIn" where I find helpful articles and images that are beneficial in my line of work. I am currently investigating a way to use a PLN for all the Health, Safety and Environment professionals in my company. I think this would be a great way for ideas and opportunities to be shared and be a great resource for professional development.

Blog Post Reflections  After performing the reflection prompt for this weeks assignment, I have identified some structural points that help with the overall experience of the blog post reader. After creating points that help the blog post performance earlier in the semester, I have found myself going away from the structure for different reasons.
