Granola Meeting Notes

Granola Intro The first thing that caught my eye with this technology was the use. I usually use OneNote to transcribe meeting notes, which is serviceable. Often the biggest challenges of meeting is to get someone to create meaningful notes and capture decisions and actions that come from the meeting. This app helps track compliance discussions, action items, and accountability. Limitations When playing around with the app, it was good at its accuracy in details and words used, it wasn't great though. I had to proof read and correct some of its errors.  Results This app was great in filling the gap with reliable scribes for meetings. It holds value in the fact that it captures ideas in meetings and does not lose them, as is usually a problem with human scribes. Even though its not 100% accurate in capturing words correctly, it captures enough that can be corrected with a proof read at the end of the meeting before notes are sent out. This app is recommended to those professio...

AI Chatbot Prompts

Experience With AI Prompting I would say that I have a limited experience in AI prompting. I use AI Chat relatively often, for school or for work. For work I mostly use the chat bot for rewording emails that don't seem quite right. Chat GPT does a great job organizing my thoughts for me so others understand what I am trying to ask. For school, I use chat to help me learn things that are relevant to my coursework and I can use in all of my classes.  My Prompt A great example of how I use Chat GPT is it helping me understand APA formatting better, it has been a long time since I have been in school before this program. Properly citing my sources has been a challenge for me and chat has helped me do that properly. Getting Chat GPT to cite sources helps me properly cite and give credit to authors, and helps me understand the formatting better. When allowed in a class' AI policy, this can be a great learning tool in proper citation.  The Process After diving into the APA text...

Blog Post Refelction

Blog Post Reflections  After performing the reflection prompt for this weeks assignment, I have identified some structural points that help with the overall experience of the blog post reader. After creating points that help the blog post performance earlier in the semester, I have found myself going away from the structure for different reasons. Whether headings were not used or not being able to find pictures on the internet that meet the copywrite/fair use requirements, I would like to work harder on emphasizing the use of this structure to enhance my blog posts. Tips/Best Practices for Creative Blog Posts What:  Creating posts that break up structured sentence writing.  Why it matters:  Using bullet points, charts, graphs or pictures to break up structured paragraphs gives the readers eyes a break. Looking at a graphic instead of just words can reduce eye fatigue. What: Use questions in your post. Why it matters : This is a good way to get interaction with the r...

HIRA: Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment

Risk Assessments Video When engaging with my PLN, most of the topics are high level. Key performance indicators and Injury/illness rate is all great information but these topics are not inclusive to those who are new in the profession. Basic risk assessment is not only great for those starting out in the profession, but refresher information to those who have been doing it for a while. Many regulatory establishments require Hazard Identification and risk assessments to be performed on a regular basis and when there is a change in work. These are not only the responsibility of the Safety person, but all area managers are required to perform risk assessments.
This week’s assignment came at the perfect time. I was Tasked to complete a project for another course that was done in a video format. Usually I would Just screen record myself in zoom, but this time I decided to go the screenpal route. Besides the issues I ran into downloading the app (it was blocked by the server), this was extremely easy. The part that I particularly liked was the stop recording and continue recording function. Instead of having to edit video later, I could pause recording, regroup and the seamlessly resume the recording. I will undoubtedly be using this resource in future assignments.

Using Edited Photos at Work

The Why In my profession, giving step by step directions happens frequently. From how to enter safety observations to adding a new SDS sheet to the site Chemical management website, these functions are extremely important. One of the most important guide of directions I use this tool for is to show people how to properly deenergize electrical equipment so they can perform maintenance. As a part of regular maintenance on equipment the facilities department has to access unprotected areas of equipment. Whether its exposing electrical wires or taking guarding off creating an exposure hazard to moving parts, equipment needs to be properly deenergized before maintenance to prevent these hazard in becoming risks or injuries. The How Organizations prepare "Energy Control Procedures" to give step by step directives on proper and complete de-energization. Not only are these safe practices, but they are critical and required by OSHA. Simply unplugging or turning off equipment is insuf...

Snip tool for Windows

Image
Snip Tool For Windows The windows snipping tool is one of my most used tool. The snipping tool is great for screen grabs when you cannot capture a window or information on your screen. Some uses for the snipping tool are: Capturing error screens that can be useful to IT. Quickly grabbing a section, image or graph of a document that you want to compare or forward to someone via e-mail. Quickly capture an email that you want to keep for your records. I recently did a paper in my Emergency Preparedness class. In the paper, I added this map with community risk level of the county I live in. I found this graph on a website that I used the snipping tool to capture for my paper; I was also able to outline the county I was using as an example. A helpful way to access the snipping tool is instead of searching for the app in the windows section, a keyboard shortcut “windows key+Shift+S” pulls up the tool quickly.
